Your project journey

How we bring your vision to life

I'm endlessly curious about each and every client I work with - there's something really special about being invited into your world, touring your farm or workspace if you have one.

There's always an inspiring story to discover - how you chose your path and the dreams that fuel everything you do.

I offer a collaborative, supportive, step-by-step process to help guide your journey so we achieve the perfect outcome together.

Think of me as the bridge between design and technology - I love moving fluidly between the two.

I believe in form following function and that they can dance beautifully together in harmony. This means the outcome is a website that's not only beautiful and functional, but strategically aligned with your brand and goals.

How we work together

Website projects can involve a lot of work on both sides, and I know how easy it is for clients to feel overwhelmed by complex processes and technical jargon. I keep the process simple, so you can relax and enjoy the journey instead of it taking over your life. I explain things in everyday terms so everything finally clicks, and you'll wrap up the project feeling much more tech-savvy and empowered.

I believe that having your involvement creates the very best outcomes, so my approach is highly collaborative and moulded to your unique business and requirements. There'll be no fitting square pegs in round holes here - no cookie-cutter solutions.

I prefer face-to-face meetings - yes, I'm a website person who loves human connection! Most clients find this approach refreshing.

1. Discovery

I'm thrilled you're considering working with me and can't wait to learn about every aspect of your business - from your backstory to your vision for your website and future business plans. I love going beyond surface-level.

When you have a physical location, I love visiting to see your business in action! We'll work out how project-ready you are - whether you have branding in place and content ready, or need guidance.

We'll discuss benchmark websites you love and review competitors' sites. Starting with simple bullet points - nothing too demanding. I'm all about simplifying processes for you.

If budget guidance needs investigation, I'll follow up with options and indicative pricing. Once budget aligns, I'll create a detailed *estimate for us to map put out our project. After you sign the agreement, I'll send the deposit invoice and we'll book your strategy planning workshop.

*If we find after our strategy workshop your scope changes - we'll discuss and adjust final pricing accordingly.

I take the time to really get to know your business on a deeper level. I'm naturally curious and love to hear about the ins and outs of how your business runs.

2. Strategic Planning Workshop

I run a unique strategy workshop with all website clients using my post-it note method and visual prompts. This allows us to look at the bigger picture of all the technology and moving parts that make your business run, ensuring everything integrates and works seamlessly.

We explore the characteristics of your ideal customers and the journey they'll take both online and offline.

After the workshop, I translate our discoveries into simple wireframes of all the key pages, so we can identify all the elements and visually map your customers' journey as they navigate to what they need.

Here I draw on my background in customer experience. We also cover your content strategy, how you'll keep customers engaged, and I offer guidance on tools for managing your social media.

My approach is intuitive, heart-centered, and customer-driven - resulting in a website that is not only beautiful and functional, but aligned with your brand and goals.

3. Design

After conducting my own benchmarking of sites that can inspire the process, I start the design phase. I usually allow 14 days for this part because I like to ponder design, walk away, and come back with fresh eyes.

To make sure we're on the same page with the design, I present your homepage design with a couple of alternative element options (to show banner variations or different colour block choices).

At this stage, I usually have such a good feel for your business that the design feels just right.

Checkpoint

I make sure you're on track with copy and content for the build, and if not, help guide you on the best approach.

Creating content can be challenging when you're also keeping your business running, so I provide as much support as possible to simplify the process for you.

This is where the magic happens - watching your beautiful website come together piece by piece.

4. Website Build

The build begins after your homepage design has been approved. Build timelines depend entirely on project scale, but 2-5 weeks is typical. For larger eCommerce projects the process can extend over 3-4 months.

I'll work behind the scenes, bringing your vision to life with care and attention to every detail. I'll touch base with you regularly and follow up if there's any missing content I need from you.

This is where the magic happens - watching your beautiful website come together piece by piece. While I'm in creation mode, you can focus on your business knowing your online home is taking shape in expert hands.

Empowering my clients to update their own websites and have control over their content creation is a passion.

5. Test & Training

On test site delivery, if I can't meet with you in person, I email you the link and follow up with a call so we can go through everything together and make sure you're completely thrilled with the result!

This is when I also book the training session if you plan to manage your own content. I've had great success with remote Zoom sessions, and they can be recorded and made available post-training for you to refer back to as needed.

Launching is a celebration - there's always a call as soon as it goes live so we can say hooray together!

6. Go Live

We can typically go live two weeks after your training and content are organized, or earlier if I've handled content upload.

Don't worry about making everything perfect for launch - changes can be made anytime you want to update your copy. For larger sites, I recommend involving a copywriter, which takes away a lot of the initial overwhelm around writing copy.

When eCommerce is involved, we often need you available to test features once we make the switch, but I'll arrange this beforehand if required.

Once we launch your new online home, I'll continue to be your valued partner, available to provide ongoing support to you and your business as it expands.

I love training you on how to use your new website and empowering you to have greater control over your content creation. And don't worry if you get too busy doing what you do best and need help managing your site, we'll be able to work out a plan to cover that.
